'YSRCP will protect the interests of the farmers'

YSR Congress party honourary president, YS Vijayamma continued her survey of the flood-hit regions in the state on the third consecutive day. On Wedesnday, she toured the regions around East Godavari that were affected by cyclone.

Despite the issue being a serious one and the situation in the regions going from bad to worse due to the heavy rainfall, neither an MLA nor MP has shown any concern, alleged villagers. They also told Vijayamma that when they attempted to make a talk with CM over the issue, they were pushed aside. The YSRCP honourary president who lent a patient ear to the families, promised that she would take up the matter in the Assembly and fight to protect their interests.

Warm welcome, thunderous applause for Sharmila

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's sister Sharmila entered Konakandla village in Ananthapur district on Tuesday as part of her  ‘Maro Praja Prasthanam’ padayatra.

The YSRCP leader arrived to a rousing reception from the people.
Sharmila addressed a public meeting amidst thunderous applause, which was largely attended by women supporters. She alleged that Kiran Kumar Reddy's government has watered down all the welfare schemes initiated by late YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
She said that if YSR were here, he would have made sure people enjoyed power supply at least for 9 hours. However, the present government has not been able to provide even 2 hours of supply, she said.
She also interacted with many supporters and the public, who joined her walkathon.
