DGP appeals people to maintain peace

In view of communal disturbances recently in some parts of old city, Andhra Pradesh Director General of police V Dinesh Reddy today appealed to people of Hyderabad to maintain peace and not to precipitate matters on minor issues.

Whenever there is any contentious issue faced by any community, its elders or their representatives may seek redressal of their grievances by representing to the concerned authorities like Hyderabad collector and other concerned authorities, the DGP said.
Appealing people not to take law in their hands, Reddy said city police is available and is capable of handling the needs of the people and added that nobody would be allowed to do policing.
In view of communal tension prevailing in some parts of the city last week, prohibitory orders have been imposed under section 144 of CrPC, under the limits of seven police stations in south and west zones till tomorrow.
